PSOS 2012 Show Winners

What a great show! The 2012 PSOS show and sale was well attended on both days. Crowds came bearing cultural questions and cameras to take photos. Visitors bought nearly every plant that was offered for sale.

The top show winner was grown by Dewey Houser, who took home the Best of Show with his beautiful Paphiopedilum.

There were 16 Prairie State Orchid Society members who entered plants for judging. A total of 144 plants were judged.

But most of all, congratulations and thanks to the many officers and members of the society for their hard work in bringing all of the facets of the event together.

2012 Cultural Award

The 2012 Cultural Award was given to Mitzi Williams for her outstanding showing of excellence in growing so many award winning orchids. Mitzi and her husband Mark make a trip of nearly 200 miles to and from each meeting. Congratulations for your outstanding work and your contributions to our society.

2012 Best of Show Award

The 2012 Best of Show award went to Dewey Houser for his Paphiopedilum orchid of rothschildianum x praestans. Dewey said he has grown this same plant since 1979. Not a stranger to the members of the society, Dewey provides comments on members "show & tell plants" at each meeting in the final portion of the meeting known as "The Dewey & Tom" show. Another great job Dewey!
