Welcome to the internet home of
Prairie State Orchid Society

Centered around Springfield, Illinois, we are a group of orchid lovers who meet regularly to discuss, enjoy, learn about and indulge our passion for orchids. Our members include some experts and knowledgeable growers to those who are beginners to orchid care and growing

What we all have in common is a love for these beautiful plants and a desire to share our enthusiasm.

We invite you to join us at our monthly meetings on the third Friday of the month (7 pm) . Meeting locations will be announced for each meeting. Our annual February show and sale is held at Springfield's Washington Park Botanical Garden in Springfield.

July Picnic Meeting

Our meeting place is the Rochester Christian Church on Friday, July 20, 2018, 6:00pm. Enter blue door marked "Family Life Center" which is in the center of the building. If coming from Springfield on Route 29, turn right at the second stop light. Church is on the right side of the street. Chicken and brats will be served. Please bring a dish to share.

The PSOS annual seminar is Saturday, August 18, 2018, beginning at 8:30am at the Rochester Public Library. A continental breakfast will be available, and lunch is also included. Cost is $20 per person.

Tom Harper, owner of Stones River Orchids, and leading hybridizer, will speak on Phalaenopsis in both a morning and afternoon program. Tom will bring a wide selection of Phalaenopsis for sale.
